VR Climbing Game is a short VR prototype created during a three-week school pressure cooker, aimed at exploring virtual reality development in Unity for the first time. The game was originally envisioned as a fantasy-inspired climbing experience, set in a world of floating structures and surreal terrain. While only a small part of that vision was realized, the project introduced key mechanics like basic climbing, player interaction, and environmental effects.

As the sole developer on this project, I was responsible for all aspects of its creation.

  • Modeling and importing floating rock assets using Blender and placing them in Unity to create the climbing environment.
  • Designing a player-following rain particle system to enhance atmosphere and explain unintended glossy textures.
  • Implementing basic hand animations tied to controller input to simulate gripping during climbing.
  • Experimenting with Unity’s XR Toolkit to lay the foundation for future climbing mechanics.
  • Concepting a larger fantasy world with interactive climbing grips, which was planned but not completed within the limited timeframe.

This project helped me gain valuable first-hand experience with VR development, Unity’s XR systems, and integrating 3D assets into a functional virtual environment.
